eBook Description: Someone is trying to murder Lavender Bennett, but who could it be? Although Lavender is a drug counselor, she has a fetish for rehabilitating bad boys. Her track record proves she's had her share of hardnosed criminals. When Lavender is brutally attacked and left for dead, Austin Glasser is the nurse who fights to save her life. Soon, Lavender leaves the hospital and returns to her bad boy lifestyle. Unfortunately, Austin's tender mannerisms linger in her mind. Since Austin is Caucasian, she wonders if he's interested in a chocolate kiss. Can Lavender drop her bad habits before she loses her life and a man who wears a halo?

"You gave us quite a scare," came the pleasing drone of a male's voice. With eyes closed, I turned my face toward the voice, wishing to return to my sleep world. "I know you hear me, Mrs. Bennett. Now open those eyes."

I tried once more to open my eyes, but they felt more comfortable being closed. Plus, the sunlit brightness of the room made them burn. After squeezing my eyes together, I moistened my parched lips. "That's Miss Bennett," I uttered weakly.

"Miss Bennett? Sorry about that, Miss Bennett, but your chart says Mrs. Lavender Bennett."

"That's an error that needs correcting." My voice strained, and I stroked my sore throat. "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride."

"I'm sorry. I thought that guy was your husband." The sound of the voice came closer to the bed. "My name is Austin. Austin Glasser. I'm your nurse."

Suddenly, my eyes widened in horror. "My nurse." My eyes beheld a strange Caucasian male standing near my bed. He was dressed in surgical scrubs, with a stethoscope hanging loosely around his neck. The sun beaming through the window gave a haloed effect around the contours of his unshaven face.

"Yes. I'm your nurse," he assured, pressing his cold stethoscope to my chest. "You were lucky enough to be placed on my floor and in my competent care." He smiled jokingly, displaying precision-edged teeth.

"Well, that's just great," I said sarcastically. "That's just what I need right now--a male nurse." I turned my face angrily from his view, then glanced over my shoulder.

Austin folded his athletic arms and glared down on me. "Miss Bennett. Would it make you feel any better if I arranged to have another nurse look after you?"

I pulled the covers securely around my neck and nodded. "Yes." Sweeping my hair behind my left ear, I scoffed. "I'd prefer a female nurse. Please!"
